Revealed: 3 things no model agency will tell you before signing you.
Getting signed to an agency is the dream of every model because it can secure their future. Many models see getting signed to an agency as a sign that they have arrived. A modeling agency manages and promotes their modeling career and exposes them to industry royalties, which is amazing for their career.
As wonderful as getting signed to a modeling agency is, they can never fully prepare you for what you will face as a model. Many modeling agencies intentionally hide all these from their models. Below are 3 things no model agency will tell you before signing you.
- It is not glamorous
Some people think that models live a glamorous life when in reality their lives are far from glamorous especially upcoming models. Shoots are not usually glamorous, the model can work in cold or hot areas with inappropriate clothing. And they can have over 50 outfit changes in the back of a van or a dirty toilet as well as pose in very uncomfortable positions without complaining.
- You might not always be booked.
Contrary to popular belief you won’t be swimming in money and gigs once you get signed to an agency.
Most of the time models signed to agencies don’t get jobs. A model can stay for a long period without any gigs. It’s hard getting regular bookings as a signed model unless you are a supermodel.
- Health complications
Modeling agencies don’t always warn you about the health complications you might have from modeling. As a model, your health is always at risk because of the harsh conditions you are exposed to in the name of a photoshoot. Due to the uncomfortable positions models are made to pose in, some end up dealing with serious backache which can lead to something severe when done over time.
